Free helmets

The Bike Safety Carnival was a fantastic event filled with fun, learning, and community. We distributed 30 free bike helmets, trained 24 young riders in safety tips, and had 28 participants decorate their bikes and helmets and make license plates with 50 overall participants.

A big shoutout to Play It Again Sports for their essential bike safety checks and their contributions to the helmet giveaway, ensuring our riders stayed safe. We extend our gratitude to the Village of Forest Park and Commissioner Michelle Melin-Rogovin for organizing this remarkable event.

Special thanks to our dedicated volunteers, Amy Binns-Calvey from the Rec Board and Alicia Hammond from the Forest Park Public Library, for their creativity and hard work in assisting with bike decorating. Ralph DiFebo with the Prairie Path provided valuable information about the 40-mile bike path accessible from Forest Park. they have been working hard to make Forest Park the trailhead for the Prairie Path and connect the Blue Line to the trail. The Historical Society proudly displayed their Forest Park History timeline banners and distributed flyers for their upcoming Forest Home Cemetery Bike Tour on September 29th.

Our young riders showcased their skills, thanks to Ride Illinois, which tested their abilities and helped them become more confident cyclists. Junction Diner rewarded our riders with a free meal, and Brown Cow delighted everyone with free scoop coupons.

Kiwanis kept us cool and refreshed with their lemonade stand, while Public Works ensured everything ran smoothly with their setup and breakdown efforts. The caffeine boost from Kirbi Coffee kept everyone energized, and the sweet treats from Cool Truck Treats' new snow cone truck were perfect on this beautiful summer day.
