2024 Year in Review
As your Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements, I'm proud to reflect on my service to the village and our community in 2024. Working with our Traffic and Safety Commission and Public Works staff, we installed several speed limit radar signs at key locations to slow traffic in Forest Park. We hosted a Bike Safety Carnival and distributed free bike helmets to kids and adults. I participated in Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat to give residents Halloween street safety information and reflective gear. Most importantly, working with our village administrator, Rachell Entler, we wrote and passed an updated Traffic and Safety Ordinance, which updated the function of our commission to include pedestrian and bike safety in Forest Park.
In 2024, I continued to support our local businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations that make Forest Park a vibrant and special place to live. I advocated for infrastructure policy in Springfield with Mayor Hoskins and my colleagues and held two important fundraisers to support Sarah's Inn and our Community Center. During Juneteenth, I worked with the Forest Park Public Library to connect our communities with local libraries in the Proviso area with an art donation. I helped organize Operation Rising Spirit with the Historical Society of Forest Park, Forest Park Middle School, and our Forest Park Scouts. I joined Forest Park Police Lt. Dan Miller on a ride-along in the Spring to get a first-hand look at how our police department keeps our residents safe.
It's an honor to serve you. I look forward to continuing our work together in 2025!
