This season, the Forest Park community came together to deliver joy and gratitude to Illinois veterans in long-term care facilities through Operation Rising Spirits. With an impressive total of 795 heartfelt cards, the initiative united diverse groups in a shared mission to show appreciation for those who have served our nation. Participants included the Social Circle at the Forest Park Library, students from Forest Park Middle School, Scout Troop 107, and Diverbar letter writers collaborating with the Forest Park Historical Society at Robert’s Westside. Each card carried messages of thanks, warmth, and holiday cheer, brightening the lives of veterans who often spend their days far from loved ones.

The overwhelming support for this effort exemplifies the community’s commitment to honoring its heroes. From children crafting thoughtful notes to adults pouring care into their words, the cards reflected the spirit of unity and appreciation. As we celebrate this accomplishment, let it serve as a reminder of the power of small acts of kindness to make a big difference. Forest Park’s role in Operation Rising Spirits not only uplifted veterans but also strengthened bonds within the community, proving once again that gratitude can be a force for connection and healing.
